Ministry Of Defence And Veteran Affairs Marks African Public Service Day With Donation To Naguru Reception Centre
The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA), in collaboration with the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), made a donation of assorted items to the Naguru Reception Centre in commemoration of Africa Public Service Day.
Mr. Mike Wambi Mabonga, Commissioner of Rehabilitation, Psychosocial Support and Resettlement in the Directorate of Veteran Affairs, represented the Permanent Secretary and highlighted the Ministry’s and UPDF’s commitment to reflecting on their integrity and services provided to the public.
Deputy Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation, Col Sam Ntambirwe, emphasised the importance of fostering harmony and mutual understanding between the UPDF and the civilian community through such efforts.
Mr. Fred Ngabirano, Commissioner of Youth and Children at the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, acknowledged the centre’s role in catering to diverse needs, particularly those requiring special care and attention.
Ms. Nyamahunge Esther, Probation and Welfare Officer in charge of Naguru Reception Centre, expressed gratitude to the UPDF for the donation, symbolising unity between civilians and the UPDF.
The event was also attended by Assistant Commissioner Human Resource Management, Mrs. Harriet Kyomugisha, and several senior officers.
