Wazalendo Boosts Chief Of Defence Forces’ Cup With Assortment Of Sports Kits
Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) yesterday donated an assortment of sports uniforms and balls to 19 football teams and 12 netball teams that are participating in the 15th edition of the Chief of Defence Forces’s Cup hosted by 2 Infantry Division in Mbarara City. The tournament commenced today.
While flagging off the tournament, the acting 2 Infantry Division Commander, Brigadier General Paul Muhanguzi who represented the Chief of Defence Forces General Wilson Mbadi, commended the UPDF leadership for choosing 2 Infantry Division to host this year’s tournament and thanked the Chieftaincy of Education and Sports for their efforts towards organizing the tournament.
Brig Gen Muhanguzi further appreciated the sponsors of the games including the WSACCO for the support extended to ensure the success of the tournament and emphasized the importance of sports and games in promoting fitness in the UPDF as well as ensuring teamwork, team spirit and providing a platform for identifying and developing talent in the UPDF.
The Mayor of Mbarara City His Worship Robert Kakyebezi appreciated the UPDF leadership and the Commander in Chief H.E Museveni for professionalizing the UPDF and promoting a good working relationship between the civilians and the UPDF.
The Director of Finance and Administration WSACCO Lt Col Yusufu Magero Buha who delivered the sports gear on behalf of the CEO Col Joseph Freddy Onata noted that the basis for the donation is to give back to the UPDF which constitutes the bulk of WSACCO membership.
The launch of the games was attended by senior leaders of Mbarara District and Mbarara City, Directors from UPDF Headquarters and the general public.
