Fully Stocked Accommodation Facility At Pro Heli Commissioned By Minister Ssempijja
The Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs Hon. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja has today commissioned a fully stocked accommodation facility and a recreation centre at PRO HELI International Limited services in Nakasongola.
PRO HELI International Service Limited is a company engaged in Overhaul, Repair, maintenance and spare parts of MI series like Mi 17 and 18 helicopters.
According to the minister, the facility gives a good working environment to PRO HELI workers. “This is the first structure of this kind in Africa. Therefore, it will not only help Uganda but the entire African continent. It will groom indigenous skills and provide job opportunities and also cut the expenses that Uganda has been incurring to seek the same services abroad,” the Minister said.
At the same function, the minister also received donations from PROHELI international service limited and Kyoga Dynamics towards the Tarehe Sita celebrations. The donations included ten KAMAZ trucks from PRO HELI while NEC donated 212 litres of alcohol-based sanitizer, 35 PVC medical mattresses, Medical masks, and 300 litres of liquid soap.
The minister also thanked PRO HELI for choosing to invest in Uganda and said that they had made the best choice.
On behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces, the Commander of Land Force Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga thanked PRO HELI for bringing such a nice investment in Uganda and said that in modern warfare, the land force cannot fully operate without the support of the Air Force.
The Commander Air Force, Lt Gen Charles Okidi thanked the Commander-in-Chief for his foresight to see that such a facility can be homegrown thus saving the expenses of seeking the same services abroad. “An aircraft maintenance facility is an important aspect in aviation unit for overhauling maintenance and spare parts of Air crafts,” Lt Gen Charles Okidi said.
In attendance was: the State Minister in charge of Veteran Affairs Hon. Huda Oleru Abason, NEC Managing Director Lt Gen James Mugira, General Officer Commanding Reserve Force Lt Gen Charles Otema, MD Luwero industries Maj Gen Sabiiti Mzee, Motorised Infantry Commander Brig Gen Byanyima, Deputy CLE Brig Gen Karugaba among others.
