It has done a commendable and efficient job, their work is self-explanatory, they work with a lot of professionalism unlike other institutions which have been giving us headache,” Nansiima noted.
She further thanked President Museveni and other FRONASA fighters for their sacrifice towards the restoration of peace, security, and democracy in Uganda.
Speaking at the same function, one of the founders and chairman of FRONASA in Isingiro district Mr. Amos Sabiiti noted that efforts made by liberators to end dictatorship, impunity, and insecurities of the former regimes; are in high gear. “Uganda is at peace today because of the sacrifice made by liberators who were highly supported by peace-loving ‘wanainchi.’ I am happy that the UPDF has continued to recognize our efforts,” remarked Mr. Sabiti.
The commander of the UPDF Engineers Brigade Brig Gen Besigye Bekunda who represented the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Wilson Mbadi noted that UPDF recognizes the strategic relationship with the Wanainchi who contributed a lot to the liberation struggle.”The army week activities is a symbolic tradition of giving back to our people as our strategic partners, and for this 42nd Tarehe Sita anniversary, we shall look at environment protection programs and foster social economic transformation,” Brig Gen Besigye noted.
He thanked Isingiro District leaders for executing their tasks and requested for more projects in the future.
Some of the activities to be conducted by UPDF Engineers in Isingiro district include; free medical outreach services, hygiene, and cleaning Isingiro town. UPDF Engineers will also construct two classroom blocks at Mbaare Primary school and Mpoma Primary school Ruborogota.
Monuments will also be constructed at Kikagati border and Kigarara, and an OPD at Kyeirumba HC3.
This year’s celebrations will be held in Greater Mbarara Sub Region, under the theme: “Recognizing the sacrifice of the founders of the People’s Revolution for Social Economic Transformation.”
The choice of the Greater Mbarara Sub-Region as the main focus of the 42nd Tarehe Sita Celebrations is particularly informed by the need to trace and link the current peace security, stability, and development to the earlier efforts in the struggle, particularly, the anti-Amin Front for National Salvation (FRONASA).
This Greater Mbarara Sub Region is composed of the districts of Mbarara, Isingiro, Rwampara, Ibanda, Kazo, Kiruhura, and Mbarara City.
